Put bluntly. The trap is making you feel that a conviction against her is also an attack on you. Your anger can become her personal political shield. Supporting one person does not automatically amount to defending democracy.
The question to check. Compare the petition's arguments with the court's reasons. Separate the right to appeal, disagreement with a sentence and claims of a judicial conspiracy.
