Appstention · French presidential 2027

Voting means endorsing.

Every ballot counts as agreement with the menu on offer. We have known for years that they take us for fools: let’s stop being naive. It is no longer even the country’s survival at stake, it is our freedom.

Appstention is an app to explore the uncertain voice of abstention and force a way out of this quagmire: refocus the state on the essentials, do them well, and rebuild everything.

Why it can end better without.

A silent abstention weighs nothing. A declared, reasoned and counted one does.

  1. A vote gives a mandate, not a condition. Once the winner is in office, nobody asks whether you voted from conviction or as the “lesser evil”: the ballot weighs the same.
  2. Legitimacy cannot be manufactured. A winner backed by a minority of registered voters governs under challenge and has to negotiate. The minority mandate →
  3. Parties chase the votes they can win. Votes put on the line, counted and conditional, become an electorate to win back, with its own terms: the pledge’s 5 questions.
  4. Silence doesn’t count; a reason does. A silent abstention reads as indifference. That is why it is declared here, with its reason.

What can go wrong. Abstention stops no election: a president is elected whatever the turnout, and low turnout can favour the most mobilised electorates. It only works if it is visible, reasoned and large enough that parties want to win it back. That is what the counter is for.

2036. Two Frances.

What we put up with in 2027, we pay for in 2036. And it starts at school.

School is already slipping

495 → 474points in maths at 15, from 2012 to 2022 (PISA, OECD). Reading: 493 → 474 since 2018.

If we let it happen

  • SchoolA generation that can no longer reason alone and lets AI think for it.
  • WorkJobs wiped out with no plan. People retrain alone, too late.
  • MoneyAI’s gains flow to whoever owns the tools.
  • StateMore rules, more agencies, less service.
  • FreedomAn algorithm decides your case. Nobody answers.

If we rebuild

  • SchoolReading, maths and reasoning first. AI second, and we check what it says.
  • WorkEvery job hit has its retraining, funded before the shock.
  • MoneyThe gains pay for schools and health, and cut everyone’s bills.
  • StateRefocused on the essentials. Answers in days, not months.
  • FreedomEvery automated decision has an accountable human, and an appeal.

In short

Does putting my vote on the line mean I promise to abstain?

Yes, on one condition: no verifiable commitments, no vote. It means you stop being naive. We have had clear answers before, and Macron fooled us. An answer is no longer enough: it takes precise, verifiable commitments that are kept. Nothing is checked here: it is a collective signal, not a contract.

Who is behind it?

An independent citizen, with no party or candidate, who funds the site alone. No donations collected. The charter · [email protected]

Are the numbers real?

Yes: the counter restarted from zero on 24 September 2026 and shows only real votes put on the line and email-validated declarations. Voluntary, not representative.
