Reducing the choice to him or the far right

In his 10 May 2026 interview, he frames the final contest as his camp versus the far right. He also accuses those invoking unfavourable polls of campaigning for Bardella. Our reading: this framing puts pressure on other choices on the left.

Put bluntly. If challenging his strategy means helping the opponent, disagreement becomes a moral failing. Fear of losing can extract support that agreement with the programme failed to secure.

The question to check. Ask what actually establishes this duel: a past result, a dated poll or an assumption about vote transfers. A strong performance in 2022 does not guarantee victory in 2027.
