Trust is built in the details.
These commitments govern Appstention’s collection, figures and analysis.
1. Freedom to choose
We support no candidate and give no voting instruction. We defend one position: a vote is not given without verifiable commitments. Without them, abstention is a legitimate choice, and we make it heard. Everyone stays free to vote; putting your vote on the line with the pledge is not a declaration of abstention.
2. Figures with definitions
Declarations are confirmed by email, one per address. An address proves neither a unique identity nor voter registration. Votes on the line count clicks, with limited duplicate prevention. None of these counters is a representative poll.
3. Participants keep their own words
Testimonies, proposed grievances and comments are published anonymously after moderation. We do not invent consensus or turn voluntary contributions into the opinion of all non-voters. A future report will explain its sources and limitations.
4. Criticism must be open to scrutiny
Public facts have a source. Interpretations are labelled. An investigation is not a conviction; a campaign phrase does not establish a hidden intention. We apply these distinctions to every candidate covered.
5. Clear information about data
Emails are not published. Report subscriptions are separate and optional. Messages sent to the editor stay private. The privacy policy details retained data, including technical logs; anonymous publication is not a promise of invisibility on the internet.
