Privacy policy

Data collected

Abstention declarations: When you declare your abstention, the site collects:

• Your email address (required)
• Your reasons for not voting (checkboxes)
• Your written testimony (optional)

Grievance book: proposing a grievance stores its title, optional detail and the page language. A vote for or against stores the grievance, the direction of the vote, the time and a keyed hash (SHA-256 with a server secret) of your IP address and browser, so that one connection votes once per line. Neither the IP address nor the browser is stored in clear; no email is requested.

Public comments: a comment stores the page, the text, an optional first name or pseudonym and the language. No email is requested. It appears only after moderation.

The test: your answers stay in your browser. When you finish the test, only the result is recorded for statistics: the proximity scores per country, the leading figure or abstention, the abstention score, the number of questions answered, the language and the country shown, with an identifier drawn at random for that test (so the same test is not counted twice). No IP address, browser, email or answers.

Report subscriptions: When you subscribe to receive public reports, your email address is stored separately with double opt-in confirmation.

Site feedback: The “Report a problem or an idea” form stores your message, the type you picked (bug, idea, other), the page you wrote from, and an email only if you leave one for a reply. Feedback is never published. The optional address is used only to reply.

How data is used

Email addresses (declarations): Your email address is used only to:

• Send the validation link for your declaration
• Prevent duplicates (one declaration per address)
• Audit the integrity of the public counter
• Handle deletion requests

The email address is stored privately and is accessible only to the site administrator. It is never published, never publicly linked to your testimony, never sold, never used to contact you for other purposes.

Testimonies, proposed grievances and comments: published anonymously after moderation. Only illegal or off-topic content is removed. The site never rephrases: it quotes verbatim or does not publish.

Assisted moderation: before any decision, the text (with its title or pseudonym and its language, without email or IP address) is sent to TypeSafe AI’s Jev moderation service, which returns scores. A very clear result publishes or rejects the text; when in doubt it waits for a human decision, and a human decision always wins. Every result is logged with its scores.

The declaration database does not retain your IP address. Infrastructure visit logs may retain IP addresses and browser information within a 90-day window. Anonymous publication therefore does not mean no technical data is processed.

Sub-processors

Data is processed by:

• Cloudflare: distribution network and protection (cache, firewall, DNS resolution)
• Google Analytics: audience measurement (GA4, identifier G-TJ1PKBEM12), subject to cookie consent
• TypeSafe AI (Jev): moderation scores for texts meant for publication (testimonies, proposed grievances, comments), without email or IP address

Cookies

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits. A consent banner allows you to accept or decline. If you decline, no audience measurement cookie is set and the site works exactly the same. Until you choose, Google Analytics sets no cookie but may receive cookieless signals with no persistent identifier (Google’s consent mode).

Cloudflare may set technical cookies necessary for the site to function properly (DDoS protection, cache). These cookies are not used for advertising tracking.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, delete and port your data. To exercise these rights or for any question about your personal data:

Data retention

Validated declarations: Email addresses and declarations are retained as long as the site is online, unless you request deletion.

Report subscriptions: Retained until an unsubscribe request to [email protected].

Intellectual property

The editorial content of the site (texts written by the publisher) is made available under CC BY 4.0 license. Published testimonies, proposed grievances and comments remain the property of their authors.

The logo and visual identity are reserved.

Limitation of liability

The publisher strives to provide accurate and up-to-date information. However, it cannot guarantee the completeness, accuracy or absence of errors in the published content.

Published testimonies, grievances and comments are those of their authors and do not bind the publisher, except in the event of a breach of the moderation obligation.

The pledge and feedback

The “No answer, no vote” pledge (one click, no email) records a timestamped vote. A hash of the IP address is used temporarily in memory to limit repeats from the same connection for 24 hours. The browser may remember a vote already counted. This does not verify people and may group different people sharing a connection.

Feedback or an offer of help sent with the “Report a problem or an idea” button stays private and does not subscribe you to reports. To request deletion: [email protected].

After consent to measurement cookies, technical events (start, success, failure of an action) help identify problems. They contain no email, reason for abstention, testimony or form text.
