Claiming a monopoly on seriousness
His campaign launch invokes truth, clear judgment and effort. Horizons' manifesto contrasts its reforms with demagogues, extremes and inertia. Our reading: this presentation can cast debatable political choices as the only adult decisions available.
Put bluntly. Calling sacrifices 'courage' and objections 'inertia' can do the dirty work before anyone examines who pays. A calm tone certifies neither competence nor the fairness of a policy.
The question to check. Identify who gains, who loses and which alternatives were examined. Apply the same scrutiny to his proposals and record as to opponents he describes as extreme.
